Contradictions of Industrialization Policy in Kyrgyzstan in the 1920s-1930s: A Historical Analysis

The article analyzes the implementation of the industrialization policy in Kyrgyzstan during the pre-war five-year plans (1920s-1930s) and its socio-economic results from a historical and statistical perspective. The relevance of the topic lies in the need for an objective assessment of the contradictions between the Soviet concept of «rapid industrial growth» and reality. The research objective is to identify the reasons for the failure of the first and second five-year plans and to evaluate the region's raw-material orientation. The methodological framework is based on historical-comparative and statistical methods for analyzing growth dynamics from the initial near-zero level. As a result of the study, it was proven that the «rapid growth» of industrialization was a statistical illusion, financial support for plans reached only 46.2%, and transport infrastructure remained insufficient. The main conclusion states that the industrialization policy failed to form a strong working class among the local Kyrgyz population, and the republic remained a raw material base for the Union center.
