Features of the Clinical Course of Heart Valve Defects in Young and Elderly Patients

This research paper is devoted to the study of the clinical course of heart valve defects in young and elderly patients. The relevance of the topic is due to the high prevalence of heart valve defects, their impact on patients’ quality of life, and the risk of complications. The aim of the study was to identify age-related differences in the clinical course of the disease. The study analyzed 200 medical records of patients with heart valve defects. The patients were divided into two groups: young patients (18–40 years old) and elderly patients (60 years and older). The types of heart defects, main complaints, ECG and echocardiography findings, frequency of complications, and treatment methods were studied. It was found that in young patients the disease more often had a compensated course, whereas in elderly patients symptoms and complications were more pronounced.
