The Evolution of Gender Policy in Soviet Kyrgyzstan: A Historical Analysis

The article provides a comprehensive examination of the formation and development stages of gender policy in Kyrgyzstan during the Soviet period (1917–1991). Drawing on historical sources, the author analyzes the changes in women's social status, the impact of the "Hujum" campaign in Central Asia, and the processes of women's emancipation. Furthermore, the socio-economic role of women during the war and post-war reconstruction years, including their contribution to industry and culture, is analyzed based on historical facts. The eradication of illiteracy and increased political participation are highlighted as key achievements of the Soviet gender model. Simultaneously, the study provides a scientific evaluation of contradictory issues, such as the "double burden" phenomenon. The article concludes by assessing the significance of the Soviet experience for modern gender equality.
