Cultural Heritage and Soft Power of the Republic of Korea in the Formation of the State Image

This article examines the influence of Korea's historical and cultural development on the formation of the Republic of Korea's modern international image. It examines the archaic beliefs of Koreans, the influence of Chinese civilization, the spread of Christianity, and the cultural transformations of the Japanese protectorate. Particular attention is paid to the interaction of shamanism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Christianity in the formation of Korean national identity. The phenomenon of the "Korean Wave" (Hallyu) as a tool of cultural diplomacy and state soft power is also explored. It is concluded that the modern image of South Korea is the result of a centuries-old synthesis of traditional culture and modernization processes.
